#1 :: ROCKTOBER

I thought I would start off my first mix tape session with a healthy dose of the RAWK. Some of this stuff is out of control and some is catchy as hell. Its all good.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Song: Banquet ............ Artist: Bloc Party
Of all the dance punk hoohah these days, these guys are primed to snatch the crown. This song is unbelievably good.

Song: Davico ............ Artist: Plastic Constellations
Sounds like Braid or maybe the Van Pelt. Makes me pine for the grand late nineties. Catchy as hell.

Song: Worlds Apart ............ Artist: And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
A leaked song from the album thats not coming out until next year. Enjoy.

Song: Elected ............ Artist: Inouk
Some spacey Neil Young influenced rock that has so many catchy melodies following one after another that its just wrong.

Song: B+T ............ Artist: Battles
Instrumental rock from Ian, the Don Caballero dude. The drummer is from Helmet. Nuff said.

Song: F.C.P.S.I.T.S.G.E.P.G.E.P.G.E.P. ............ Artist: Fall of Troy
A little known screamo band from Seattle. This song has more melody than most of their stuff but maybe thats why I like it the best.

Song: All Roads To Fault .................. Artist: Your Code Name is Milo
This is one of those songs that takes a simple idea and squeezes so much out of it you end up where you started, only a whole lot wiser. Whatever that means.

Song: Without MSG I Am Nothing .................. Artist: McClusky
They are Welsh and they sound huge in that Steve Albini way. And their song titles are long and funny.

Song: Played Out For Punchlines ............ Artist: 31 Knots
These guys are from Portland and they are amazing. Fugazi meets Yes. Its better than that sounds.

Song: Book of Flags ............ Artist: Q and Not U
Hands down the song of the year.
