#9 :: ROCKTOBER 2

So its been a year since I started this little music blog. I kicked it off with a healthy dose of rock, and it felt good. Really good. So I did it again. Well this Rocktober isn't quite the screamo fest the last one was but it showcases examples of what was great about RAWKs past and what's going to continue to be great about it in the future. No signs of irrelevance surfacing here. Vital, fun-loving, pissed-off, intelligent, idiotic and loud as hell.

Some people might really find this band annoying. Or perhaps that they are schlocky and too "wink wink" funny. I happen to feel they are equally brilliant and hilarious. Keep and open mind. Feel the satire.

Oh crap. Two talk-a-songs in row. Can you dig it? Well I dig this song a lot. It's got that great dive bar band feel. Pull up a stool and a cold beer. Enjoy the show.

Artist: Exploding Hearts
These guys make no qualms about the history of their sound. They are just having fun and writing insanely great songs. Tragically 3/4 of the band was killed in a tour van accident. So we have to enjoy the little brilliance they were able to leave behind.

These guys are getting huge. And rightly so. Well this song from their yet to be released sophomore album should answer any questions as to whether they can do it again. Its every bit as good as you'd expect after behind blind sided by Take Me Out last year.

So this eighties new wave meets indie rock thing is really getting ridiculous. I would totally have written this off as wholly unoriginal, but dammit they had to go and be really great. WTF?

Noisy low-fi and bratty punk they way it was supposed to be. Reminds me a lot of the Red Aunts. Good stuff.

This band isn't exactly new but they never really got the attention I always felt they deserved.

Another installment in the Dance Punk thing thats been threatening to get old. Again quality music is quality regardless of said tired trendiness.

So this guy has been around forever and a lot people say he lost it long time ago. To hell with that, this song makes me so angry and so energized, every time, you gotta love it. YOU HAVE TOO. Otherwise you might have a deficiency in your soul. Again not exactly new but worth a relisten every time.
